To Bupbe_buon, Thanks

Reggina - Juventus

Reggina will be keen to cause a major upset against Juventus in what could prove to be the most important match of the season. Quite simply anything other than a defeat for La Vecchia Signora would see them carry off Scudetto number 29. But their hosts will be eager to show they are a real force in Serie A by playing a huge part in what could be a historic last day in the Italian top-flight.

Despite their earlier stumble that allowed Milan back into the Scudetto race Juve will be full of confidence going into this vital encounter. After setting a new club record of 27 matches without a defeat the Bianconeri must feel unbeatable, especially after Zlatan Ibrahimovic finally broke his scoring drought in the win over Palermo.

With the League title so close Fabio Capello will be guarding his players against any complacency as they bid to turn that confidence into a trophy. With the Rossoneri facing a tricky tie with Roma they will know that their fate is very much in their own hands, even if they will need to overcome the absence of the suspended Patrick Vieira.

Reggina will be angry at being robbed of their final home match of the season after this game was moved to Bari as punishment for earlier crowd trouble and will want to make their point on the pitch. Former Juve striker Nicola Amoruso will also want to show just what he can do after equalling Mohammed Kallon’s club record of 11 Serie A goals in a season and will want to break that record against his former club. A top-half finish may be mathematically beyond them but they will want to finish as high as possible despite Ivan Franceschini and Alessandro Lucarelli’s suspensions.

Reggina: Pelizzoli; Cannarsa, Lanzaro, Giosa; Mesto, Biondini, Tedesco, Vigiani, Modesto; Cozza; Amoruso

Juventus: Buffon; Balzaretti, Thuram, Cannavaro, Zambrotta; Camoranesi, Emerson, Giannichedda, Nedved; Trezeguet, Ibrahimovic

With Marcelo Zalayeta set to be sold, Grafite will move from Le Mans, where he has been on-loan, to deepen Juve's striker pool.

The signing of Grafite from Sao Paulo in January represents possibly Juve director general Luciano Moggi's last piece of transfer business as Italian football waits for his resignation tomorrow.

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba admits he'd be interested in a future move to AC Milan.

The Ivory Coast international's future at Stamford Bridge could become clouded should Chelsea land Milan's Andriy Shevchenko and Drogba admits a move to Serie A would interest him.

"I adore Serie A. Your football is changing, now it is becoming more and more offensive," said Drogba. "Every year, the Italian teams do very well in the Champions League. Above all Milan, they play very spectacular football."

He added: "I know very little about Italy. I know of Rome, but I adore Milan. For me, it's the most beautiful city in the world. The people are warm and open.

"And, of course, I love the shopping in Milan."

Moggi defiant: I did everything for Juventus
tribalfootball.com - May 16, 2006

Former Juventus director general Luciano Moggi put up a defiant defence in front of magistrates yesterday over the wiretapping scandal.

Moggi is quoted in this morning's Gazzetta dello Sport saying: "It's true, there is a virus that has infected this atmosphere, but football was sick a long time before I came along.

"Juventus makes their money on the field, it does not have television to help them. If something must be done in order to defend yourself from the major powers, in football the best way is to be able to use television.

"What I have done, I have done for Juventus. Milan has it's television, we do not.

"In football, everyone has their road to follow. The alliances are always changing."

tribalfootball.com - May 16, 2006

Modena supremo Luca Baraldi insists there's been no contact received from Juventus.

"For my name to be mentioned must mean I've done something right in the world of football, despite me being involved for only a short time.

"Juve are one of the most important clubs in the world and it would appeal to anyone to be involved with them."

AC Milan chiefs to launch bid for Arsenal's Henry
tribalfootball.com - May 18, 2006

AC Milan chiefs are ready to launch their bid for Arsenal captain Thierry Henry.

Milan insiders are convinced they can beat Barcelona for the Frenchman, particularly after his scathing attack on Barca's 'divers' at the end of last night's Champions League final.

Henry's lambasting of Barcelona players and their play-acting will not have gone down well inside the opposition dressing room and has only further convinced Milan they can land the Frenchman.

The striker's defection from Nike to Reebok is also a decision in Milan's favour, though Henry is unlikely to make his choice based on his new sponsor.

Milan intend to use the £34 million raised from Andriy Shevchenko's sale to Chelsea to fund their deal for Henry. Milan and Chelsea officials met yesterday in Paris to discuss terms over the Ukrainian.

Milan will offer £10 million to Arsenal for Henry and table a five-year contract worth £18 million to the Frenchman's advisors in the coming days.

tribalfootball.com - May 18, 2006

Napoli have earned promotion to Serie B for next season and it is a return for Cannavaro, who was born in the city and began at the Stadio San Paolo in 1998.

AC Milan confirm signing of Inter veteran Favalli
tribalfootball.com - May 18, 2006

AC Milan have confirmed the capture of veteran Inter Milan defender Giuseppe Favalli on a Bosman.

The left-back was linked with a switch to Milan last month and the outfit have yesterday confirmed his capture.

Favalli, who has represented Italy in the past, has arrived on a free transfer after his Nerazzurri contract came to an end.

The former Cremonese and Lazio full-back, now 34, has committed himself to the Italian giants until June 2008.

Capello: “See you on the 15th July”

Juventus completed their final training session this morning before a well-earned summer break for their players and staff. Balzaretti, Birindelli, Blasi, Bonnefoi, Giannichedda, Pessotto and Zebina were all in attendance at the Sisport centre where they took part in a game with the youth sector. At the end of the session Capello addressed the players and press, naming the 15th July as the first day of pre-season training.

Juventus.com: record numbers

Not only Fabio Capello’s squad but also Juventus.com have had a record-breaking season this year,  with the 29th scudetto victory bringing over 117,726 visitors flocking to our web-site. The incredible statistics are further confirmed by the number of  individual pages visited: approximately 1,205,106.
----------------------
The bianconeri’s record season

9 CONSECUTIVE VICTORIES FROM THE FIRST DAY OF THE SEASON
To say that Juve started the season at a canter would be an understatement. Whilst other squads were gradually easing themselves back into competitive action, the bianconeri exploded into form from day one. 27 points from a possible 27, 18 goals scored and only 2 conceded, proved to their rivals that Capello’s side were taking nothing for granted.
Juve’s nine victories represent the best start to a season by any squad in the history of Serie A:
Juventus-Chievo 1.0; Empoli-Juventus 0-4; Juventus-Ascoli 2.1; Udinese-Juventus 0-1; Parma-Juventus 1-2; Juventus-Inter 2-0; Juventus-Messina 1-0; Lecce-Juventus 0-3; Juventus-Sampdoria 2-0.

21 CONSECUTIVE AWAY GAMES ON THE SCORESHEET
The importance of consistency in a modern squad cannot be overstated and for the last two years Juventus have proved themselves masters of retaining their focus and form in the long run. For 21 consecutive away games the bianconeri scored at least one goal, pouring endless pressure on their rivals whilst maintaining a consistently high level of performance:
2004-05 Season: Matchday 27: Roma-Juventus 1-2, Matchday 28: Chievo-Juventus 0-1; Matchday 30: Fiorentina-Juventus 3-3; Matchday 33: Lazio-Juventus 0-1; Matchday 35: Milan-Juventus 0-1; Matchday 37: Livorno-Juventus 2-2.
2005-06 Season: Matchday 2: Empoli-Juventus 0-4; Matchday 4: Udinese-Juventus 0-1; Matchday 5: Parma-Juventus 1-2; Matchday 8: Lecce-Juventus 0-3; Matchday 10: Milan-Juventus 3-1, Matchday 12: Roma-Juventus 1-4; Matchday 14: Fiorentina-Juventus 1-2; Matchday 16: Lazio-Juventus 1-1; Matchday 18: Palermo-Juventus 1-2; Matchday 20: Chievo-Juventus 1-1; Matchday 22: Ascoli-Juventus 1-3; Matchday 25: Inter-Juventus 1-2; Matchday 26: Messina-Juventus 2-2; Matchday 28: Sampdoria-Juventus 0-1; Matchday 30: Livorno-Juventus 1-3

THE GREATEST JUVE GOALSCORER OF ALL-TIME

Alex Del Piero this season celebrates his seventh scudetto win as a Juventus player, only one away from equalling the all-time record of eight as set by Beppe Furino (Ferrari also has eight, but ‘only’ 6 as a Juve player). However, whilst Alex eagerly anticipates another title success, he can reflect on a season in which he surpassed Giampiero Boniperti’s scoring record of 182 goals, making him the greatest Juventus goalscorer in history and putting him on course for an unprecedented double-century. The captain’s achievement has been over a decade in the making, and considering that Boniperti’s record stood for almost 45 years, juventini may have to wait a while before they see another Del Piero…

76 MATCHES AT THE TOP OF THE TABLE
This record, more than any other, proves the bianconeri’s dominance of Serie A in the last two years. Since Capello’s first game in charge, against Brescia on 12th September 2004, Juventus have never been unseated from their position at the top of the table. Following their retention of the scudetto this season their record currently stands at 76 games – beating the existing record of 72 set by Capello when he was in charge at Milan.

TREZEGUET BECOMES TOP FOREIGN GOALSCORER

David Trezeguet joined Alex Del Piero on triple figures this season, steadily rising through the ranks of previously prolific goalscorers with a total of 28 goals from the 2005/06 season alone. Whilst his hundredth goal was hugely significant for the striker, it was his 105th that would have pleased him the most, seeing him surpass the record achieved by his yellow Frenchman, Le Roi, Michel Platini. As the season continued and David’s goal tally increased he finally passed the 124 of John Hansen, a feat that the Dane achieved between 1948-1954, becoming Juve’s highest-scoring foreign player.
Trezeguet’s next objective is to surpass Anastasi’s 131-goal quota and put himself in the top 5…

Juventus attacker Miccoli: My Italy caps were deserved
tribalfootball.com - May 21, 2006

Juventus attacker Fabrizio Miccoli has denied claims he's won Italy caps thanks to the influence of the GEA agency.

The on-loan Benfica striker said: "I have not ever had aid from the Gea for getting into the national team.

"My place in the national team at the time was deserved."

He added: "My future? I will decide that with Juventus. What is happening in the world of football is not good. It's a situation that must be cleared up. At Benfica I am happy."

Baldini rejects Juve offer
Monday 22 May, 2006
Former Roma official Franco Baldini has opted against becoming Juventus’ new director general.

Baldini was offered the position, made vacant by the resignation of Luciano Moggi in the aftermath of the match-fixing allegations, following extensive talks last week.

Although the transfer wizard is understood to have been attracted by the outfit’s serious and fascinating plans for the future, he’s decided to reject the position.

Baldini is reported to have phoned Carlo Sant'Albano, the club’s temporary chief executive, on Sunday to explain his decision.

Baldini was wanted given his previous work with the Giallorossi alongside boss Fabio Capello, but his numerous ‘battles’ against Juve in the past may have played a significant role in his thought process.

So what now for Juventus? Reports on Monday suggest that the Turin giants could look to Beppe Marotta or Giovanni Sartori.

Marotta has been working with success for the last few years at Sampdoria, while Sartori has made his name at Chievo.

There is also the possibility that Capello could be promoted to the director role, with the club bringing in a new Coach – such as Fiorentina’s Cesare Prandelli or Walter Novellino of Samp.

Meanwhile, the legendary Dino Zoff is understood to be in pole position to replace Roberto Bettega as the club’s new Vice-President.

AC Milan's Rui Costa waiting on Benfica approach
tribalfootball.com - May 21, 2006

AC Milan midfielder Rui Costa admits he's still to be contacted by Benfica about a return to Lisbon next season.

"I haven't had any signs from Benfica and I cannot honestly say that everything is fine," confessed the Portuguese veteran.

"The only thing I can say for certain right now is that I have one more year to run on my contract with Milan."

Galliani Close To Resignation

Following Carraro, now it's Galliani's turn to quit.

Many Serie A and B clubs are asking for Adriano Galliani's resignation from the post of the President of the Lega Calcio following the scandal which has rocked Italian football in recent weeks.

Galliani was elected by the same club's Presidents, who are now convinced that this was not such a good idea seeing how power has corrupted most people at the top of the Italian football world.

The Rossoneri's vice-President decision is expected to be taken in the upcoming days, guaranteeing more turmoil in an already shaky environment.

Trezeguet, Ibrahimovic, Nistelrooy On Barca Shortlist

Barcelona are keen to make up for losing Henry and Larsson by making a top drawer addition to their front line.

With Larsson leaving for home club Helsinborg, much against the wishes of the Barcelona technical body, and Henry having decided to stay with Arsenal, the signing of a top striker has become a priority at the Nou Camp.

And after the way Santi Ezquerro's signing last season panned out, the Catalans are reluctant to sign someone just to make up the numbers.

Following Larsson's departure, Barca want someone who can partner Eto'o, as well as provide a top quality alternative to the Cameroon international.

Ibrahimovic's skill and versatility, and Trezeguet's immaculate finishing, have landed them both on the Barca wish-list.

President Joan Laporta and Rijkaard are also both known to be admirers of Van Nistelrooy, and he and Trezeguet were both very close to a move to the Nou Camp two years ago - with Rijkaard particularly keen - before the Eto'o deal materialised.

The unpredictable situation that Juventus find themselves in, in Serie A, and Van Nistelrooy's fall at Old Trafford, have seen all three become realistic options for Barcelona.

Earlier, former assistant Henk Ten Cate was said to be keen on Villarreal's Diego Forlan, while Rijkaard was rumoured to have seen something special in PSV's Peruvian striker Jefferson Farfan.

Recently, Barcelona based Sport carried out an internet poll on whom Barca fans wanted as Larsson's replacement. Ibrahimovic was a clear winner with 41 percent of the votes polled, with Van Nistelrooy coming in second with 17. Saviola (still on Barcelona's rolls), Trezeguet and Forlan completed the list, with 16, 14 and 12 percent of the votes, respectively.

Buffon set for Milan
Monday 22 May, 2006
Gigi Buffon will leave Juventus for Milan during the summer, insist reports in Italy on Monday morning.

The Italian international ‘keeper has been linked with the Rossoneri for a few months now and a transfer seems on the cards.

Although any possible Juventus demotion would lead to his sale anyway, stories suggest that he had already decided to leave before the alleged match-fixing scandal broke.

Buffon was supposedly looking for a fresh challenge, especially as whispers allege that he doesn’t share a great feeling with boss Fabio Capello.

Milan would certainly seem to be a perfect fit for the shot-stopper given their problems in between the sticks this term.

Brazilian Nelson Dida hasn’t impressed and there do seem to be problems in negotiations regarding the renewal of his contract which runs out in 2007.

Although the two parties were set to meet in an effort to find an agreement, Dida has still not put pen to paper.

It’s unclear how much Juventus would want for Buffon who they signed from Parma in 2001 for a goalkeeping record of £32m.

Antonio Mirante is expected to be handed the gloves in Turin next term after he spent this season on loan at Siena.

Juventus are also understood to have netted veteran custodian Francesco Antonioli from Sampdoria on a free transfer.
