tribalfootball.com - November 22, 2005
Juventus have moved to open talks with coach Fabio Capello over a new contract.
Aware of interest from Manchester United, Juve chiefs are anxious to find an agreement with Capello which will see him stay with the club beyond his current deal.
Among his demands to Juve's board, Capello has communicated he wants technical chiefs Luciano Moggi, Antonio Giraudo and Roberto Bettega, all to stay beyond their current contracts, which expire at the end of this season.
He also wants a clause in the new contract which will guarantee him a director's role once he decides to retire from coaching.

tribalfootball.com - November 22, 2005
AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani is backing coach Carlo Ancelotti in his row with veteran defender Billy Costacurta.
Costacurta incurred the wrath of Ancelotti last week when declaring he believed the coach's time was up at Milan.
Ancelotti said yesterday: "What Billy said, he could have kept to himself - especially before such a big game (against Fiorentina)."

Roma coach: No problems with Mancini
tribalfootball.com - November 22, 2005
AS Roma coach Luciano Spalletti insists there was nothing sinister in the late omission of midfielder Mancini before Saturday's 4-1 thrashing by Juventus.
"It seems that Mancini has a calf strain," Spalletti explained yesterday. "He wanted to try to play but the injury prevented him from doing so.
"It could be something more serious, even a tear and I did not want to risk him aggravating the situation and lengthening his time out."

Toni: Beating AC Milan just beautiful
tribalfootball.com - November 22, 2005
Luca Toni was delighted to play his part in Fiorentina's shock win over AC Milan on Sunday night.
"It's been a great and beautiful day, we wanted to play a great game but we did not think we'd quite win 3-1," said the star striker.
"I must say that we have been also fortunate, everything has gone well for us. We will not talk about big plans, we limit ourselves to enjoy this moment. After this we will go to Roma, it will be another great game and we will be calm because we know we can compete with anyone."

Juventus deny Sagnol deal Monday 21 November, 2005 -----------Channel4
Juventus have dismissed reports that they have already signed Bayern Munich’s Willy Sagnol – but have hinted a deal is imminent.
The French international is said to have agreed to a four-year stint with the Italian giants once his contract at Bayern expires in the summer.
However, Luciano Moggi insists nothing has been agreed even if he seemed to confirm that Sagnol would be heading to Turin.
"Sagnol is an excellent defender, one who interests us," the director general is quoted as saying. "However, we still haven’t signed him yet."
The right-back, also linked with Valencia and Manchester United, is expected to replace Jonathan Zebina in the side next term.
The latter, plagued by injury so far this season, is expected to be sold after he requested a new improved contract.
Meanwhile, Juventus have also ruled out a move for Antonio Cassano in the January transfer market.
Associated with the Turin giants seeing as his contract expires in the summer, the Bianconeri insist they have no need for any more attackers.
"Cassano is a Roma player who is going through a very delicate situation, therefore I don’t really want to touch this theme," chief operating officer Antonio Giraudo said on Monday.
"All I will say it that Cassano is a great player, but we have a complete attack. We already have great champions and our attacking options are very competitive."

Del Piero to face Belgians Monday 21 November, 2005 ---------------Channel4
Alessandro Del Piero is set to start in Juve’s Champions League match against Club Brugge on Tuesday night.
No longer guaranteed a first-team place under Fabio Capello, Del Piero has nevertheless been given the go ahead to face the Belgians - in their Group A match at the Stadio Delle Alpi - due to the suspension of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
"Del Piero will play," confirmed Juventus Coach Fabio Capello. "Del Piero, David Trezeguet, Pavel Nedved and Mauro Camoranesi will represent our attacking players."
It is rare that Capello is so open about his side before a big match, but perhaps the convincing win over Roma has restored his confidence.
Del Piero, meanwhile, is ready to take on a Brugge side that has greatly improved in the Belgian League since the two sides met on the opening day of the tournament group stages.
"It will be a hard game," he said. "We are up against a side that hopefully won’t play as well as they have got used to playing recently because, as always, we want to win. It is important for us to make the most of home advantage."
Respectful as ever, the captain is not one to make brash statements. In fact, according to the 31-year-old, this is one of the secrets to Juve’s success.
"We fear no-one but we always have the greatest respect," added the Italy icon.
"When we keep both of these two factors in mind we have much more chance of winning than if we only think about one of them."
Roma should take note. All of the hot air that emanated from Giallorossi headquarters ahead of their match with the Turin giants came to nothing and they were left suitably humiliated.
Del Piero insists that, just as his teammates avoided becoming embroiled in a war of words with Roma’s outspoken players, so it would be equally unbecoming of his side to boast about their decisive win.
"Winning in Rome was great regardless of what was said in the build-up," he revealed.
"If anything, what was said beforehand ensured that we kept playing at 100 per cent and working really hard right up until the final whistle."
Del Piero for Ibrahimovic is the only team change from the side that won 4-1 on Saturday, as Capello goes all out for the win that would guarantee the Bianconeri a place in the last 16.
A draw would even be enough for Juventus to progress to the next stage, while for Brugge, who are already guaranteed a UEFA Cup place, a share of the spoils would leave them hoping that SK Wien upset the odds to beat Bayern Munich.
