AC Milan coach Ancelotti: Critics make me laugh
tribalfootball.com - December 29, 2005

AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has scoffed at critics who want him to leave the club at the end of this season.
"I've been here calmly for four years and it will be the same for the next few," Ancelotti told RAI. "It makes me laugh.

"I have the fortune to have a relationship with the club that not many enjoy, a clear, frank, affectionate relationship, and everything which is said around me does not interest me.

"What is important for me is the good relationship that I have with Galliani and Berlusconi."

Inter Milan's Figo rejects £4M-a-year Qatar offer
tribalfootball.com - December 29, 2005

Inter Milan winger Luis Figo has rejected a new mega offer to quit European football and play in Qatar next year.
Qatari clubs have been chasing Figo since midway through last season while he was still at Real Madrid and the Portuguese enjoys a good relationship with several of the country's club presidents.

However, Figo is happy at Inter and it's emerged today he recently rejected a bumper £4 million-a-year, two season deal to move to Qatar in the New Year.

Agent reveals Juventus talks for Palermo's Barone
tribalfootball.com - December 29, 2005

The agent of Palermo midfielder Simone Barone has confirmed talks have begun with Juventus.
Silvano Martina revealed: "The negotiations are not advanced, but the idea is to make the transfer happen."

Barone is excited by the prospect of moving to Juve, which could lead to Manuele Blasi moving in the opposite direction.

Lippi opens door to Del Piero, Cassano
tribalfootball.com - December 29, 2005

Italy coach Marcello Lippi has left the World Cup door open to Juventus captain Alessandro del Piero and Roma striker Antonio Cassano.
"Cassano could come along if he proves he is in form and plays regular first team football," explained Lippi on Sky Sport Italia.

"The same goes for Del Piero, as it does for any player. I think the worst thing a Coach could do would be to say someone definitely will or won't be in the squad six or seven months before the tournament."

Ascoli confirm interest for Lazio's Inzaghi
tribalfootball.com - December 29, 2005

Ascoli chief Marco Giampaolo has declared he'd love to sign Lazio striker Simone Inzaghi.
"Anyone would want a forward like him in their team," said Giampaolo. "We will have to do something, I understand however that there are some difficulties: we do not have great finances and therefore we will wait for the right occasion in order to try to grow in quality."

Anxious Barzagli fears Juve test (Channel4)
Monday 2 January, 2006
Palermo defender Andrea Barzagli says he is fully aware of the task facing his side when Juventus arrive at the Barbera on Saturday.

The Rosanero have three Italian internationals in their defence – Barzagli, Fabio Grosso and Cristian Zaccardo – but the stopper is anxious ahead of the Old Lady’s visit.

"Juventus are simply the strongest team around right now," he admitted before targeting two danger men in particular.

"They have Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David Trezeguet, while we only have the desire to do well."

The Sicilians’ fragility at the back has been a major surprise to most pundits, but Barzagli has looked to defend his colleagues.

While he concedes that Gigi Del Neri’s side haven’t been rock solid defensively, he also believes they have been a little unlucky.

"The fact is that we are not giving away too many chances even if we are a team who has let our opponents on the scoresheet too often," he noted.

"We are working hard to put that right, starting from the game against Juventus at the weekend."

Palermo have had an inconsistent start to the campaign, with Del Neri’s notorious attacking 4-4-2 tactics resulting in 25 goals being conceded so far – 12 of those at home.

Milan set sights on Oddo  (Channel4)
Monday 2 January, 2006
Massimo Oddo is in pole position to join Milan given the likelihood that both Jaap Stam and Marcos Cafu will leave in the summer.

Stam is set for a return to his homeland at the end of the season, while Cafu admitted on Saturday that he wants to end his career with Sao Paulo.

Their departures will leave the Italian giants short of options in the right-back role which has opened the door for Lazio man Oddo.

The Italian international has been associated with the Rossoneri for some time and he could finally return to the San Siro for the 2006-07 campaign.

The 29-year-old, who began his career in the Milan youth system, is starting to impress again and could be made available for as little as £4m.

Oddo, who has scored twice in 15 games this term, is similar in style to Cafu as both like to attack as much as possible.

Nevertheless, Milan have a number of other options who are being considered at this moment in time.

Lecce defender Marco Cassetti is on their short-list, as is Reggina’s Italian international Giandomenico Mesto.

However, Oddo remains the favourite to arrive and he could touchdown in Milan with a Biancocelesti teammate.

Swiss international Valon Behrami, who is now totally owned by the capital outfit following their recent deal with Genoa, is also liked by the northern outfit.

Behrami, still just 20, has enjoyed a splendid first season in Serie A but is currently sidelined with an ankle problem.

Cannavaro: Juventus fans want Euro glory
tribalfootball.com - January 2, 2006

Juventus defender Fabio Cannavaro wants to win the Champions League this season.

"The supporters stop us in the street every day and ask us to win the European Cup for them," revealed the defender.

The Bianconeri have won every trophy available over the last few years, but haven't tasted continental glory since beating Ajax on penalties in 1996 at Rome's Stadio Olimpico.

They went close in 2003, only to lose out on spot-kicks to Milan at Old Trafford, and that disappointment has stuck with the players.

"Of course, the World Cup is foremost in my thoughts," added the Italy captain. "Before that, I want to win everything with Juventus. We are in a good position in Serie A and hope to do equally well in Europe."

Gattuso not chasing AC Milan captaincy
tribalfootball.com - January 2, 2006

AC Milan midfielder Rino Gattuso insists he's in no rush to takeover the captain's armband from Paolo Maldini.

"Paolo is incredible, he can play until 2007," said Gattuso. "If I said that I wouldn't be interested in the captaincy, I would be a hypocrite.

"But I do not want to promote any talk about this because now there is Paolo, there is one leader to respect and also before me there are Shevchenko and Ambrosini."

Chievo coach Pillon urges Inter Milan rethink on Obinna
tribalfootball.com - January 2, 2006

Chievo Verona coach Beppe Pillon is urging Inter Milan to rethink their decision to recall Nigerian teenager Victor Obinna.

Inter are yet to finalise the deal and Pillon has made a last ditch effort to convince the Milan giants to let Obinna continue his education in Verona.

Pillon said: "For him it is better to continue for another six months with Chievo. Mine is an exclusively technical speech, it is clear, I know the rights that Inter boasts in the market.

"If they want, they can take him home. But speaking about a young person, it is important for him to have the better opportunities he has at Chievo, where he can play without the responsibilities of a great club."

Capello Rubbishes Real Claims (Goal)

The Juve coach firmly denied that he will leave the Bianconeri at the end of the season.

During an interview with Italian daily sports newspaper ‘Tuttosport’, Fabio Capello rebuffed the claims that he is on his way out of Turin towards Madrid or even Manchester United, stating that it was all just a media invention.

However, the former Milan and Roma coach has set a limit till when he intends on working.

“Three more seasons, then I will say enough. I stop,” declared Capello.

Thêm vài bài nữa nhé   :

Vieri ponders New Year switch

Milan’s Christian Vieri is considering a January move with clubs in England and Spain keen on the forgotten striker.

The Italian is said to be assessing his options given his lack of use at the San Siro since his summer arrival.

Vieri joined the Rossoneri for nothing from rivals Inter but has failed to make the desired impact so far.

With boss Carlo Ancelotti seemingly favouring an Alberto Gilardino and Andriy Shevchenko partnership, Vieri has rarely featured so far.

With just one goal in eight League appearances, Vieri is hungry for first team football in World Cup year.

The 33-year-old is therefore thinking of a change in an effort to not miss out on his last chance of winning a major trophy with the Azzurri.

So where could he go? The Premiership and La Liga are the most likely destinations if he does leave the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Spurs have been associated in the past, even if Newcastle could make a move given the three-month absence of the injured Michael Owen.

Other options for the much-travelled attacker, who has also played for Atletico Madrid, include Real Betis and Espanyol in Spain.

---------------------------------------
Samp suffer Bonazzoli blow

Sampdoria may have lost top scorer Emiliano Bonazzoli for the rest of the season through injury.

The striker got the New Year off to the worst possible start after collapsing with pain in training.

The former Under-21 international has suffered a knee injury and initial tests have suggested ligament damage.

If that diagnosis is confirmed, Bonazzoli will require surgery and could be sidelined for around six months.

That would rule the youngster out until next term and will end any hopes of making the World Cup squad.

Although he is currently uncapped at full international level, Bonazzoli was being talked about as a possible call-up after his nine goals in Serie A so far this term.

The loss of the 26-year-old is a massive blow to the Genoa club who have had their fair share of serious injuries this term.

Fabio Bazzani, another striker, has only just returned to action after he required knee surgery in pre-season.

Sampdoria are now expected to recall Corrado Colombo from his loan stint at Serie A minnows Ascoli.

Boss Walter Novellino could also draft youth team player Salvatore Foti into the squad if needed.

Lazio chief reveals Di Canio contract talks planned
tribalfootball.com - January 3, 2006

Lazio director general Carlo Osti has revealed they want to sign captain Paolo Di Canio to a new contract.

"Paolo has demonstrated he is integral to this team, he's strong and has a great attachment to this club," said Osti.

"Today, Di Canio is the symbol of this Lazio, when it is time we will all sit around the table and talk about the renewal of his contract."

Lazio chief admits Cesar sale in days
tribalfootball.com - January 3, 2006

Lazio director general Carlo Osti admits they're likely to sell Cesar - possibly as early as this week.

The Brazilian branded Lazio's new contract offer as "ludicrous" and Osti said: "Cesar's future will be decided in the coming days.

"While we would not like to lose the Brazilian, particularly as he plays in a specialist position, we must take advantage of this market."

Osti also revealed they're likely to sign a direct replacement for Cesar by the end of the month.

"We want a similar player as a replacement. Someone with great quality. It won't be easy, but we have some ideas."

Udinese won't work winter market - Leonardi
tribalfootball.com - January 3, 2006

Udinese director general Pietro Leonardi insists they won't be active during the winter transfer window.

"Udinese won't make any moves in January," he said. "This transfer window is one in which to repair things but we have nothing that is broken.

"People say that we have only got 23 points, however I must remind everyone that it isn't always possible to battle for fourth place.

"Seeing as we are not in any relegation danger, there is no need to change the face of the squad."

Lazio chief: No offers for Inzaghi
tribalfootball.com - January 3, 2006

Lazio director general Carlo Osti admits the offers have dried up for striker Simone Inzaghi

Osti said: "In the summer there were many clubs that made offers for him, but he rejected them all. Now, I do not know if the same level of interest is out there.

"I also don't know if he actually wants to leave Rome."
--------------
Vieira: Arsenal Are Missing Me

Former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira believes that the Gunners have suffered since he left for Juventus last summer.

"I don't want to appear presumptuous but I really do think that my absence has been felt at Arsenal," the 29-year-old France midfielder told the London Evening Standard.

"They have certainly suffered psychologically since I left.

"Maybe it is because they have not fully understood the reasons why I left or maybe they are only just beginning to understand."

Vieira joined Juventus for £13.7 millon and he has made it clear that he wants to finish his career with the Italian giants, who are leading serie A by a distance.

"I left London because there was nothing else left to stimulate me.

"I know what I want from myself and I know what way I want my life to take," he added.

"I have signed a long contract with Juventus because these are the most decisive years of my career and they may well be the last team that I play for."

"I am 29 and still at the top of my career. I have reached my peak physically and tactically.

"I wanted to play the best years of my career for a side that would help develop my ambitions and Juventus have allowed me this."
--------------------
Inter To Trade 'Kily' For Lazio's Cesar?

According to reports Inter Milan are likely to trade Argentine midfielder Cristian Gonzalez for Lazio’s talented Brazilian midfielder Cesar.

‘Kily’ has not been able to hold a regular starting line-up position at Inter and club officials have confirmed that his contract will not be extended when it expires in June.

In recent months Gonzalez has stated that after the World Cup he will make a return to Argentine soccer, although he may still end his Serie A career at Lazio if the switch is made.

On the other hand the deal may play in Lazio’s favour as if they do not make the switch Cesar is likely to leave on a free transfer when his contract expires in June.

The Brazilian winger has recently revealed his desire to leave the Roma based club, after an outburst with Lazio president Claudio Lotito that continually put back contract renewal talks.

Cordoba: Cassano would've thrived at Inter Milan
tribalfootball.com - January 4, 2006

Inter Milan defender Ivan Cordoba insists Real Madrid signing Antonio Cassano would've thrived under the management of coach Roberto Mancini.

Inter were rivals to Real Madrid for Cassano's signature and Cordoba said: "Cassano is going to Real and there's no point in talking about him.

"For sure, he is the strongest player and we have all seen him play. I have had the possibility to play against him many times. He is unpredictable, always creative and is extraordinary."

On Inter's pursuit, Cordoba added: "His character is a difficult one, but here at Inter is a trainer to manage these things. He would have been able to manage Cassano. Now he is with Real and we wish him all the best."

AC Milan to offer want-away Cafu to Sao Paulo for Lugano
tribalfootball.com - January 4, 2006

AC Milan could offer Cafu to Sao Paulo as part of a deal for the January signing of defender Diego Lugano.

Milan management have concerns over Cafu, who failed to report to training on Tuesday with the rest of the squad at the club's Milanello HQ.

Cafu is still in Brazil to tend to his poorly Dad and has reportedly asked Milan to be loaned to a local club so he can stay with his family.

Sao Paulo is a favoured destination for Cafu, which are keen to land the experienced right-back as a replacement for new Real Madrid signing Cicinho.

The deal could accelerate Lugano's arrival in Milan, where he was expected to join the Italian giants in June. It's been suggested Milan are prepared to offer Cafu plus £2 million to Sao Paulo for the Uruguay international so to close a deal this month.

Cagliari close to deal for Juventus striker Zalayeta
tribalfootball.com - January 4, 2006

Cagliari have an agreement with Juventus chiefs over a loan deal for striker Marcelo Zalayeta.

However, the deal won't be rubberstamped unless Juve coach Fabio Capello agrees. The trainer is reluctant to lose Zalayeta for the second-half of the season.

Juventus chief: Abbiati is staying
tribalfootball.com - January 4, 2006

Juventus director general Luciano Moggi says on-loan AC Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati will stay with the club for the rest of the season.

Moggi said: "In January Abbiati will not move from Turin, but in June, as was established at the beginning of the season, he will return to be the property of Milan."

Abbiati has been linked with Palermo for this month's market.
--------------------
Palermo - Juventus       Stadio Barbera (Channel4)

Both Palermo and Juventus will be hoping to steady their form when they meet at the Stadio Renzo Barbera. While Juve are still flying high at the top of the table, their 1-1 draw with Lazio in their last away game showed that it is possible to earn points against La Vecchia Signora. The Sicilian outfit are also playing below their best. Suffering defeat in their last two matches they have now slipped into the bottom half of the table and are in danger of being left behind in the race for Europe.

The Rosanero’s below par performances recently have seen club President Maurizio Zamparini itching to splash the cash. Cristiano Lupatelli has already arrived in the January transfer window in time to compete for a place in this match. That deal also saw previous ‘keeper Matteo Guardalben banished to struggling Parma, and every player in the Palermo team will know that they could be playing for their place in the squad when they face the reigning champions.

The side from Sicily are virtually injury free after their Christmas break but will be hoping to take advantage of the Bianconeri’s defensive absences at the Barbera. Juve will be without Alessandro Birindelli and Robert Kovac for the whole of January and the ever-present Gianluca Zambrotta will miss his first game of the season through suspension.

Palermo (probable): Lupatelli; Zaccardo, Terlizzi, Barzagli, Grosso; Santana, Barone, Corini, Bonanni; Caracciolo, Makinwa

Juventus (probable): Abbiati; Blasi, Thuram, Cannavaro, Chiellini; Camoranesi, Emerson, Vieira, Nedved; Ibrahimovic, Trezeguet

Juventus move back on for Bayern Munich's Sagnol
tribalfootball.com - January 5, 2006

Willy Sagnol's transfer saga has taken another twist.

His on-off move to Juventus could be back on again after Bayern Munich revised their contract offer this week.

"We have reformed our offer and Sagnol should give us a reply by January 10," said chief Karl Heinz Rummenigge. "If we get a negative response then he will be free to move elsewhere."

Whispers suggest that the Munich club have put together a four-year contract worth £1.7m a season.

However, Juventus are ready to draw up a more lucrative agreement in the region of £2m a campaign, plus offer a number of win bonuses.

"Sagnol is a problem for Bayern," responded Juventus director general Luciano Moggi after this latest twist. "If they don't find an agreement then we will welcome him with open arms."

Obefami Martins is backing fellow Nigerian Victor Obinna to replace him successfully at Inter Milan.

Inter are considering recalling Obinna from his loan at Chievo to replace Martins, who will play for Nigeria in the African Nations Cup later this month.

"If he does that, his chance will arrive."

AC Milan chief Galliani accepts Vieri exit
tribalfootball.com - January 8, 2006

AC Milan chief Adriano Galliani has confirmed striker Christian Vieri has asked for a move.

"Vieri is very happy at Milan, but in a World Cup year he would like to play more regularly," explained the vice-president.

"He is torn and I understand his situation. In any case, this is an issue that will be decided over the next two to three days and will not drag on beyond that.

"He is 33 years old and this will probably be his last World Cup, so he feels that he must safeguard that experience by playing more first team football.

"These are all perfectly understandable considerations.

"I will only say that if Vieri does stay, then he'll focus all his attention on doing well with Milan. All he needs is a little patience and a brace of goals to get the critics off his back, but any eventuality will be dealt with in a climate of friendship and understanding."

Palermo's Barone calm over Juventus interest
tribalfootball.com - January 8, 2006

Palermo midfielder Simone Barone admits he's in no rush to join Juventus.

Barone has been linked with Juve, but in a World Cup year would rather be playing week-in, week-out with Palermo.

He said: "Staying with Palermo I would have more possibilities to play and so win a place for the World Cup. But when you get a call from a club like Juventus, you have to consider it carefully.

"Perhaps in the future I could go there. It is something to play for. But I am a player of Palermo and am only focused on the club."

Moggi: Juventus doesn't need to buy
tribalfootball.com - January 8, 2006

Juventus director general Luciano Moggi insists they won't be signing anyone new players during this month's market.

Moggi said: "I think it opportune to think about what Juve has done up to now before seeing if it is worth the pain to make new changes.

"Well, for me, that sort of thing is not worth the pain, because our substitutes bench is made from national teams and is working well in this way.

"It doesn't serve us to bring in more reserves, we will only sign players who will play as starters."

Oddo backs Cesar to quit Lazio
tribalfootball.com - January 8, 2006

Massimo Oddo says Lazio pal Cesar should quit the Rome club.

"If Cesar has other offers that could take him to a team challenging for prestigious trophies, and if he feels he no longer has the motivation to continue here, then it's only right he leave," explained defender Oddo.

"Cesar had two incredible seasons under Mancini, as I recall he sometimes managed to win games single-handed.

"I would be disappointed if he left, as he is a great player and a charming man, but these issues must be decided by the club."

Inter Milan's Zanetti accepts Juventus pre-contract
tribalfootball.com - January 8, 2006

Inter Milan midfielder Cristiano Zanetti has reportedly accepted a pre-contract offer from Juventus.

The Italy international has been tabled a four-year deal worth £1.8 million-a-year, which was similar to what Inter have also offered.

However, Zanetti wants a reunion with his former Roma coach Fabio Capello at Juve and will move to Turin at the end of the season on a Bosman transfer.

Juventus coach Capello hails 2-goal hero Mutu
tribalfootball.com - January 8, 2006

Juventus coach Fabio Capello was delighted with striker Adrian Mutu after his brace in yesterday's 2-1 win at Palermo.

Capello said: "Mutu works hard down the flank and also brings a lot of quality to that wide role. He also kept a very cool head in front of goal. He's a great player and has proved himself after that experience at Chelsea. He's still very young and has room for improvement."

The Romanian was particularly happy with the timing of this achievement, as he will turn 27 years of age on Sunday.

"It's great to celebrate my birthday in this way, though the important thing was to play and above all to win," said Mutu. "I thank Capello and the club for putting their faith in me. It wasn't easy to come here and get the points, especially after such a long break, but we have immediately settled back into our rhythm."

Agent demands Roma answers over Mancini
tribalfootball.com - January 8, 2006

The agent of Roma wing-back Mancini is demanding they deal in the Brazilian.

"I cannot understand if Roma believe in Mancini or not. If they don't, then why are they waiting to sell him?" said agent Mino Raiola.

"We have arranged a meeting with the club to discuss matters either next week or the one after. I cannot say any more than that, but we need to know if Amantino is still in Roma's plans for the future and if they will offer him the same terms that they were going to give to others.

"I don't know if Mancini has been frozen out by his teammates, as I don't read the newspapers and haven't asked him about it. It certainly can't be nice for the home fans to insult him, but he has always been a consummate professional. Especially after the death of his father, it wouldn't hurt for people to be a little more understanding."

Mancini's deal is not up until 2009, but his future has been in doubt ever since he reportedly had talks with Juventus in August. This situation - and a spate of injuries - has affected his form this season.

"It's clear that if a club does not believe in a player, then he'll be sold," Raiola told Radio Radio. "If they don't think he can return to his best, then they should release him."

Palermo president confirms asking for Juventus pair Blasi, Balzaretti
tribalfootball.com - January 9, 2006

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini admits he's asked Juventus about Manuel Blasi and Federico Balzaretti.

Quizzed about Juve's interest in Simone Barone and Fabio Grosso, Zampa replied: "I have asked for Blasi and Balzaretti, but I do not want to be deprived of our important players or to make compromises."

Lazio target Langella happy at Cagliari
tribalfootball.com - January 9, 2006

Cagliari winger Antonio Langella insists he is happy at the club.

After starring in the win over Udinese, Langella said: "There's been a lot of talk about me, but I have a contract with Cagliari until 2008.

"If the choice depended on me, I would stay here for life, I find myself happy here and with this shirt I have reached important goals, from the Serie A to the National team.

"I know that there's been contact with Lazio, but nobody has ever spoken to me directly."

Juventus keeper Buffon explains comeback delay
tribalfootball.com - January 9, 2006

Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon has played down concerns over his delayed comeback.

"A goalkeeper like me cannot afford to make a fool of himself just because he's only 50 per cent fit," explained Italy's No 1.

"With my reputation, I have to make the difference in a positive way. I am physically much better now and this should allow me to speed up the recovery process. I think that within the next fortnight I will be back between the posts."

Ancelotti furious with AC Milan
tribalfootball.com - January 9, 2006

AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti was furious with his players after their dramatic 4-3 win over Parma yesterday.

"We played a terrible second half," admitted Ancelotti, after his team had been leading 3-1. "Right from the restart we played with complacency and a lack of drive. I honestly cannot explain what happened."

The giants had gone behind to Paolo Cannavaro's goal thanks to a Dida howler, but fought back to lead 3-1 by the break. Every time they seemed to put the result beyond doubt, a defensive error would allow the Gialloblu back into the game.

"We must learn from this match and meditate on it. There are positive aspects to it as well, because scoring four goals is not to be sniffed at, but the second half performance needs to make us think."

Amoroso not joining Milan, says agent (Channel4)

Brazilian striker Marcio Amoroso’s agent has dismissed the stories linking his client with an imminent move to Milan.

Amoroso has been paired with the Rossoneri given that Christian Vieri is just a medical away from completing a move to Monaco.

However, Nivaldo Balbo has categorically denied the rumours suggesting that the player was set to leave the new World Club champions.

"There are no negotiations with Milan for my client," Balbo told Brazilian national newspaper Globo on Monday.

"All this began with a conversation which I had with an Italian journalist who told me that Amoroso had the ideal characteristics to replace Vieri.

"However, I then responded with the news that Amoroso is on the verge of extending his contract at Sao Paulo."

Serie A fans know Amoroso well after he appeared in the peninsula with the likes of Udinese and Parma.

In fact, the South American ended the 1998-99 campaign as the League’s top scorer with 22 goals in 33 games for the Stadio Friuli boys.

Recoba out for 14 days (CHannel4)

Inter are facing a striker shortage after Alvaro Recoba was sidelined for two weeks with an injury.

The Uruguayan limped out of the 0-0 draw with Siena on Sunday and tests have shown a slight muscle tear in his right thigh.

Recoba will definitely be out of action for at least the next 14 days, but there is the possibility that it may be longer.

Boss Roberto Mancini now has just two strikers available to him in the form of Adriano and Julio Cruz.

Nigerian international Obafemi Martins is away on African Nations Cup duty, while Chievo’s Victor Obinna has yet to officially complete his move.

Abbiati set for Milan return (Channel4)

Milan have told Juventus to forget about their hopes of keeping Christian Abbiati at the club once his loan stint comes to an end.

Reports have suggested that Juve wanted to secure Abbiati on a permanent basis after an excellent six months at the Stadio Delle Alpi.

However, the Rossoneri have insisted that Abbiati will return to the San Siro when his contract at Juve expires in the summer.

"Abbiati’s situation is very clear," stated Vice-President Adriano Galliani on Monday. "He is on loan at Juventus until June, but he is still a Milan player."

The reigning champions netted Abbiati as a personal favour from Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi.

The Italian Prime Minister offered the ‘keeper once Gigi Buffon was ruled out for six months after damaging his shoulder in a pre-season friendly between the two sides.

Although Abbiati did initially make a few mistakes, he’s been a major reason why the Old Lady are currently nine points clear at the top of the table.

Abbiati, who now faces competition from a fit-again Buffon, had become something of a forgotten figure in Italian football after the exceptional form of Nelson Dida.

Nevertheless, Abbiati may regain the No 1 shirt for the Rossoneri next term after some decidedly shaky performances from the Brazilian of late.

Dida, who is set to start in goal for the Selecao in the World Cup, made a costly mistake last night which gave Parma the lead – even if Milan won the game 4-3.
