AC Milan chief Galliani accepts Vieri exit
tribalfootball.com - January 8, 2006
AC Milan chief Adriano Galliani has confirmed striker Christian Vieri has asked for a move.
"Vieri is very happy at Milan, but in a World Cup year he would like to play more regularly," explained the vice-president.
"He is torn and I understand his situation. In any case, this is an issue that will be decided over the next two to three days and will not drag on beyond that.
"He is 33 years old and this will probably be his last World Cup, so he feels that he must safeguard that experience by playing more first team football.
"These are all perfectly understandable considerations.
"I will only say that if Vieri does stay, then he'll focus all his attention on doing well with Milan. All he needs is a little patience and a brace of goals to get the critics off his back, but any eventuality will be dealt with in a climate of friendship and understanding."

Palermo's Barone calm over Juventus interest
tribalfootball.com - January 8, 2006
Palermo midfielder Simone Barone admits he's in no rush to join Juventus.
Barone has been linked with Juve, but in a World Cup year would rather be playing week-in, week-out with Palermo.
He said: "Staying with Palermo I would have more possibilities to play and so win a place for the World Cup. But when you get a call from a club like Juventus, you have to consider it carefully.
"Perhaps in the future I could go there. It is something to play for. But I am a player of Palermo and am only focused on the club."

Moggi: Juventus doesn't need to buy
tribalfootball.com - January 8, 2006
Juventus director general Luciano Moggi insists they won't be signing anyone new players during this month's market.
Moggi said: "I think it opportune to think about what Juve has done up to now before seeing if it is worth the pain to make new changes.
"Well, for me, that sort of thing is not worth the pain, because our substitutes bench is made from national teams and is working well in this way.
"It doesn't serve us to bring in more reserves, we will only sign players who will play as starters."

Oddo backs Cesar to quit Lazio
tribalfootball.com - January 8, 2006
Massimo Oddo says Lazio pal Cesar should quit the Rome club.
"If Cesar has other offers that could take him to a team challenging for prestigious trophies, and if he feels he no longer has the motivation to continue here, then it's only right he leave," explained defender Oddo.
"Cesar had two incredible seasons under Mancini, as I recall he sometimes managed to win games single-handed.
"I would be disappointed if he left, as he is a great player and a charming man, but these issues must be decided by the club."

Juventus coach Capello hails 2-goal hero Mutu
tribalfootball.com - January 8, 2006
Juventus coach Fabio Capello was delighted with striker Adrian Mutu after his brace in yesterday's 2-1 win at Palermo.
Capello said: "Mutu works hard down the flank and also brings a lot of quality to that wide role. He also kept a very cool head in front of goal. He's a great player and has proved himself after that experience at Chelsea. He's still very young and has room for improvement."
The Romanian was particularly happy with the timing of this achievement, as he will turn 27 years of age on Sunday.
"It's great to celebrate my birthday in this way, though the important thing was to play and above all to win," said Mutu. "I thank Capello and the club for putting their faith in me. It wasn't easy to come here and get the points, especially after such a long break, but we have immediately settled back into our rhythm."

Agent demands Roma answers over Mancini
tribalfootball.com - January 8, 2006
The agent of Roma wing-back Mancini is demanding they deal in the Brazilian.
"I cannot understand if Roma believe in Mancini or not. If they don't, then why are they waiting to sell him?" said agent Mino Raiola.
"We have arranged a meeting with the club to discuss matters either next week or the one after. I cannot say any more than that, but we need to know if Amantino is still in Roma's plans for the future and if they will offer him the same terms that they were going to give to others.
"I don't know if Mancini has been frozen out by his teammates, as I don't read the newspapers and haven't asked him about it. It certainly can't be nice for the home fans to insult him, but he has always been a consummate professional. Especially after the death of his father, it wouldn't hurt for people to be a little more understanding."
Mancini's deal is not up until 2009, but his future has been in doubt ever since he reportedly had talks with Juventus in August. This situation - and a spate of injuries - has affected his form this season.
"It's clear that if a club does not believe in a player, then he'll be sold," Raiola told Radio Radio. "If they don't think he can return to his best, then they should release him."
