Juventus chief Moggi: Del Piero deserves World Cup place
tribalfootball.com - November 24, 2005

Juventus director general Luciano Moggi says Alessandro del Piero must be included in Italy's World Cup squad for Germany.
Moggi said: "Alessandro Del Piero is a champion, I often say it and I must repeat it. Scoring goals is his trade and he does it often.

"Consequently, he must be under consideration by Marcello Lippi for the World Cup next summer in Germany."

Cesar to reject Lazio contract offer
tribalfootball.com - November 24, 2005

Cesar is set to leave Lazio when his contract expires at the end of this season.
The Brazilian has failed to agree terms over a new deal with Lazio president Claudio Lotito, who has been demanding he take a pay-cut.

Inter Milan are favourites to snap up the wing-back.

Juventus chief Moggi: Keane too old
tribalfootball.com - November 24, 2005

Juventus director general Luciano Moggi insists they're not interested in released Manchester United captain Roy Keane.
Juve were linked with a two-year, £7 million contract offer for Keane this week, but Moggi said: "Keane does not interest us.

"We're only interested in signing players below 30 years of age."

Inter Milan move for Palermo fullback Grosso
tribalfootball.com - November 24, 2005

Inter Milan are chasing Palermo left-back Fabio Grosso.
Inter patron Massimo Moratti wants to sign the Italy international either in January or June and is prepared to use both Francesco Toldo and Francesco Coco as makeweights in his offer.

Figc investigate Cassano's Roma situation
tribalfootball.com - November 24, 2005

AS Roma chiefs have been interviewed by Italian federation officials over Antonio Cassano's situation.
Figc investigators quizzed Roma director general Daniele Prade and coach Luciano Spalletti about why Cassano had not been considered for first team duty in recent weeks. This came after Roma executive director Rosella Sensi publicly declared Cassano wouldn't be considered while he refused to sign a new contract.

Both Spalletti and Prade told the Figc team that Cassano was only left out because of injuries he was suffering from.

Marseille latest to ask after AC Milan's Inzaghi
tribalfootball.com - November 24, 2005

Marseille have joined Bordeaux in their interest for AC Milan striker Pippo Inzaghi.
Bordeaux approached Milan last month about taking Inzaghi on-loan in January for the second-half of the season, but received short shrift from the Italian giants.

It's emerged Marseille have also made enquiries about Inzaghi in recent days, but have received the same response from Milan chiefs.

Fiorentina eyeing Roma wing ace De Rossi
tribalfootball.com - November 24, 2005

Fiorentina are being linked with exciting AS Roma winger Daniele De Rossi.

President Andrea Della Valle said recently: "If we are still among the top sides in the League at Christmas, we will weigh up our options in the transfer market."

Della Valle is prepared to part with between ?4.7m and ?5.5m to recruit emerging Roma star De Rossi.

The Giallorossi are reluctant to let the home-grown Italy international go, but they could be attracted by much-needed funds in the light of the seemingly doomed Antonio Cassano dispute.

The 22-year-old's arrival also depends on how much longer the 'Mexes saga' will continue to block Roma from taking part in any player-plus-cash transfer activity.

Ex-Juventus star Tacconi slams Italy heroes
tribalfootball.com - November 24, 2005

Former Juventus and Italy star Stefano Tacconi has slammed Italy's current day heroes.

"Gilardino and Toni are two mediocre players who are simply playing well right now," said the retired shot-stopper. "They are nonetheless poor compared to their predecessors."

Tacconi, who retired in 1995 after nine years at Juventus and a final three campaigns with Genoa, was even more scathing when it came to those who replaced him in the Italy goal.

"There is a major crisis of Italian goalkeepers at the moment," he told Radio CRC. "Gianluigi Buffon with a broken shoulder is still better than anyone else in the country."

Buffon has been sidelined with a shoulder injury since August and has been replaced in the Azzurri area by Angelo Peruzzi, Morgan De Sanctis, Flavio Roma, Christian Abbiati and Marco Amelia. Not content with insulting his fellow countrymen, Tacconi also launched a broadside at Dida and Julio Cesar.

"If Serie A clubs have started drafting in Brazilian goalkeepers, then we really are in serious trouble. It must mean we've done everything wrong from 1990 onwards."

Sanz insists courts won't stop Parma takeover
tribalfootball.com - November 24, 2005

Lorenzo Sanz insists his takeover of Parma remains on course.

Sanz stands accused of selling a fake Guido Rino painting to a buyer from Rome and is being taken to court by the irate art lover.

The former Real Madrid President is said to have exchanged the painting for two Fernand Leger canvasses and, after a series of lawyers' letters, the case ended up in a Madrid court last month.

Sanz, though, maintains that the case has nothing to do with his intentions to complete his purchase of Parma and that he is confident that his name will be cleared anyway.

"I will not stop," said Sanz. "I want the Gialloblu."

The details have emerged at a critical stage in Sanz's take-over bid. He has already paid a first installment of ?5m for the Emilia club and is currently in the process of negotiating the remaining ?13.5m to complete the deal.

"The court case has got nothing to do with football and our negotiations to take control of Parma," added his son Lorenzo Sanz Junior.

"I wouldn't pay too much attention to that man (the Roman buyer). He's already had too much publicity as it is."

Capello Denies Real Rumours  - Goal
11/23/2005 9:59:00 AM
The Juve coach has no intention of returning to Madrid.
Fabio Capello sarcastically commented the speculation linking him to a return in Spain with Real Madrid.

“I didn’t know I had already signed. It’s very difficult to do well in a place where you already were, and especially finding the same players you had left."

Despite winning the game, the match against Brugge proved that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is fundamental in Juve’s attack formation.

“Physically he’s important, he has an exceptional technique, but I’m happy with what those who were on the pitch did. Let’s not forget that three days ago we played an intensive match in Rome, so I’m happy with what we did.”

Candela: I've told Totti to quit Roma for Man Utd
tribalfootball.com - November 25, 2005

Udinese fullback Vincent Candela has revealed he's constantly telling good pal Francesco Totti to quit AS Roma for the sake of his career.
The Frenchman said: "I have told Totti many times that he would have a great chance to win many more trophies if he left Roma.

"In the shirt of Real Madrid, of Manchester United or Barcelona, he could do great things.

"However, Totti won't be moved - for him, Roma is his home and that's the end of the story."

Chivu Wants Capello Reunion     Goal
11/24/2005 6:03:00 PM
Another good-bye is on the horizon for crisis-torn AS Roma.
In an interview held with Sky Italy today, Cristian Chivu said he would love to play for now Juventus coach Fabio Capello again.

“Totti said he would never play for Capello again, but I don’t share his feelings. It was Capello who brought me here at Roma, and I would like to work again with him. The Scudettos he has won do the talking for Capello,” said the Romanian defender.

“Things are different for Spalletti. He just began his adventure,” he added.

Chivu then cast strong doubts over his future with the Giallorossi.

Spalletti: It’s Possible For Cassano To Join Real       ------Goal
11/24/2005 11:26:00 AM
AS Roma coach Luciano Spalletti has suggested that rebel striker Antonio Cassano may move to Real Madrid.
The Italian international has yet to sign a contract extension with the club and in June will be able to leave for free.

According to ’Corriere dello Sport’ Cassano was offered to Real president Florentino Perez in a meeting on Monday following the 3-0 humiliation by Barcelona.
Roma do not want the player leaving for nothing, and Perez was reportedly invited to their Uefa Cup match against Strasbourg on Thursday.

It remains to be seen whether Real would be interested in the controversial striker, although Roma coach Spalletti was quoted as saying: “It is possible that Cassano goes to Madrid."

“I still have two years and a half left on my contract, but in football its not only up to the player to remain or not on a team,” he said.

Man Utd's interest in Capello to spark Italian coaching scramble
tribalfootball.com - November 25, 2005

Juventus coach Fabio Capello could spark a transfer merry-go-round after next year's World Cup.

Capello's contract at Juve expires in 2007 and he has expressed an ambition to work in England. Manchester United are being linked with the Italian master coach, who could be persuaded to quit Turin early and move to Old Trafford at the end of this season.

If Capello does leave Juve, the club's board will immediately offer a lucrative return to Italy coach Marcello Lippi.

Lippi has been uncomfortable as Azzurri coach this World Cup qualifying campaign and has hinted he misses the day-to-day involvement of club football.

Should Juve coax Lippi back, then the favoourite to take over the Azzurri for the 2008 European championship push is AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti is contracted to Milan until 2007, but his place has been in doubt following comments from patron Silvio Berlusconi and veteran defender Billy Costacurta in recent weeks.

AC Milan to call in Juventus favour for Zebina
tribalfootball.com - November 25, 2005

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani is considering a move for Juventus defender Jonathan Zebina.
Milan are desperately seeking a central defender ahead of the winter market, with French international Zebina the latest name linked.

Zebina has fallen out with Juve management over new contract demands and is expected to be sold at the end of this season.

That deal could be brought forward by Milan, which could call in the favour owed by Juve after patron Silvio Berlusconi's decision to send Christian Abbiati to Turin in August as a replacement for the injured Gigi Buffon.

Peruzzi Comes Clean On Drug Scandal       Goal
11/24/2005 11:45:00 AM
Lazio goalkeeper Angelo Peruzzi has lifted the lid on the drug scandal that saw him banned for a year.
The Italian international was banned, along with Roma team-mate Andrea Carnevale, for failing a dope test in 1990.

Peruzzi claimed in a subsequent court appeal that the ‘Lipopill’ drug was a slimming pill given to him by his mother after a large meal.

But he has now revealed that this was a lie and that he was trying to protect another player Roma who gave him the drug.

"Carnevale, Roma President Dino Viola and I told a whole pack of lies and I think this is why we were banned for a year," he told Roma Uno.

"The truth is there was no meal. The Lipopill was given to me by a player. I was recovering from an injury and he said that although it wouldn’t help me make any more saves, the pill would prevent me from getting injured again.

"I was naive and stupid to believe him and for this I deserved the ban. They told me to tell a different story, even though I didn’t want to drag my family into the mess.

"I just agreed to it because I was a nobody at the time. It was better to hang a young kid out to dry than a famous player."

Peruzzi insists he has no grudge against Viola who advised him to lie in court.

“The FA advised Viola to take this line because that way I would only be banned for three months," he added..

"But it went differently. They were waiting for this moment to massacre Viola, whom I maintain was a great President, and he trusted them." --------------------------------------

Inter Milan's hat-trick hero Adriano thanks Vialli
tribalfootball.com - November 25, 2005

Inter Milan striker Adriano thanked Gianluca Vialli for his advice after Wednesday night's hat-trick against Artmedia Bratislava.

"I wanted to thank Gianluca Vialli, as his open letter really helped me and gave me the strength to get back on track. I went through some very bad times, both psychologically and physically, but I now know I must train regularly throughout the week to stay at full fitness. The pressure is constant and I accept that responsibility, as I want to grow with Inter and to win with this club."

The Brazilian also suggested that some of the credit must go to teammate Alvaro Recoba and the different tactical concerns that come with the various attacking options.

"I always play well alongside Recoba, as it means I can stay closer to the penalty area and concentrate on scoring goals."

Vieira: Juventus gave me new lease of life
tribalfootball.com - November 26, 2005

Patrick Vieira says he has been given a new lease of life at Juventus.
The former Arsenal captain told Football Italia: "Here at Juventus, my position is very different.

"Emerson is the more defensive player and I've had more licence to move forward, which I prefer."

He added: "The amount of goals I've scored have been a pleasant feature of my game, it's nice because it's not been my target as a player.

"The way we play really suits me. Our strikers are also all very good at dealing with the ball and at creating room for us midfielders to come from behind."

Vieira also revealed Juve coach Fabio Capello hasn't changed since they were together nine years ago at AC Milan.

"He hasn't changed at all," added the 29-year-old. "He still has that same desire to win and same passion for the game which makes him a great Coach.

"My time at Milan? Having some knowledge of the Italian game before has been an advantage, although it's a long time ago and my spell at Arsenal obviously shaped me more as a player and a person."

Vidic ready for Fiorentina move
tribalfootball.com - November 26, 2005

Spartak Moscow defender Nemanja Vidic is happy with reports that he is about to be transferred to Fiorentina.
Both Vidic's agent and Fiorentina director general Pantaleo Corvino have confirmed this week that a deal is close for the defender to move to Florence when the winter transfer window opens.

"If the two clubs can come to an agreement," said Vidic, "then I will happily move to Italy in December."

Juventus wait as Sagnol to announce intentions
tribalfootball.com - November 26, 2005

Bayern Munich fullback Willy Sagnol has revealed he will announce where he will playing next season in a fortnight's time.
Juventus are favourites to land the Frenchman, who said: "I will announce my decision in a week or two. There is obviously a strong link with one club."

Earlier this week, Juve director general Luciano Moggi made it clear his club hope to snare the former Monaco defender.

"Sagnol is an excellent defender, one who interests us. However, we still haven't signed him yet," he said.

Collina admits he's Lazio mad
tribalfootball.com - November 26, 2005

Retired Italian referee Pierluigi Collina has revealed who he supports.

"I followed Bologna when I was a boy, but then I turned to Lazio because they had Giuseppe Wilson playing for them who I was mad for," he stated.

But Collina was quick to outline that his 'allegiance' to the Biancocelesti had no effect on his decision making during their games.

"Lazio didn't win any of the first 10 games in which I officiated them," continued the man who was widely regarded as the world's best.

Juventus chief Moggi slams Roma fans for booing Cassano
tribalfootball.com - November 28, 2005

Juventus director general Luciano Moggi has jumped to the defence of striker Antonio Cassano after he was booed by his Roma fans.
Cassano was barracked by Roma fans on his return to the first team for last week's UEFA Cup clash with Strasbourg.

Moggi said: "It was not a gesture that I much liked. Cassano pulled on the Roma shirt and he has not done anything in order to get that sort of reaction from people.

"Cassano is a great player and will show his value."

Roma's Panucci pushes Cassano to Real Madrid
tribalfootball.com - November 28, 2005

AS Roma defender Christian Panucci says teammate Antonio Cassano would be a perfect signing for his old club, Real Madrid.
"Antonio is a Roma player until June and if he is on form then it helps everyone," insisted former Real star Panucci.

"We hope he can give his contribution to get this team as high up the table as possible. I think he could adapt well to Real Madrid and Spanish football. I wish him well if he joins the Merengues, as it's a great club for any professional."

Roma chief Conti plays down Dacourt, Chivu exit comments
tribalfootball.com - November 28, 2005

AS Roma players' chief Bruno Conti has played down comments from two senior players last week.
Olivier Dacourt and Cristian Chivu caused controversy with interviews suggesting they were eager to leave the capital at the end of the season.

"We have discussed the matter and cleared the air. Dacourt immediately came over to explain that his statements were misinterpreted by the media," said Conti.

"Chivu, on the other hand, said in his interview that he still has a long way to go in his career. I'd be inclined to agree."

Prandelli: Fiorentina atmosphere has helped Toni
tribalfootball.com - November 28, 2005

Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli is convinced the club's relaxed atmosphere has helped star striker Luca Toni reach his potential this season.

Toni is the form striker in Serie A with 15 goals in 12 games so far and Prandelli reveals the key to Fiorentina's success.

"Toni is getting used to the pressure and has the ability to joke about his situation, so he's just like anyone else in the locker room. I sometimes tell players that they have every right to think themselves great, but always remember to analyse their capabilities within the framework of a team.

"There is a relaxed atmosphere here in Florence and they are becoming friends."

Capello denies Juventus rift between Trezeguet and Del Piero
tribalfootball.com - November 28, 2005

Juventus coach Fabio Capello insists there is no rift between strike-pair David Trezeguet and Alessandro del Piero.

Last week's 1-0 win over Club Brugge was marred by Trezeguet's angry reaction to a substitution and he was quoted in the Press as saying he was unhappy with the rapport with Del Piero.

"Perhaps David was tense for some other reason, but certainly not because of Del Piero," assured Capello. "There is no problem in the locker room. In any case, if there is a situation that needs to be clarified, it's best to do so when everything is going well to avoid an issue being blown out of proportion."

Mallorca coach Cuper missing Serie A
tribalfootball.com - November 28, 2005

Real Mallorca coach Hector Cuper admits he'd welcome the chance to work again in Serie A.
The former Inter Milan trainer said: "I miss Italy so much, from football to the life outside - I hope to return, even also to Inter!

"Ronaldo? He is a champion with which I have had some problems, but as a player is superb. Unfortunately, I've never had the chance to clear the air with him."

Juventus coach Capello welcomes Chivu comments
tribalfootball.com - November 28, 2005

Juventus coach Fabio Capello admits he welcomes the comments from Roma defender Cristian Chivu that he wants to work with him again.
"I do not want to comment in absolute terms," said Capello, "but it appeals to me what Chivu has said."

Lazio coach Rossi: Nothing sinister over Cesar selection
tribalfootball.com - November 28, 2005

Lazio coach Delio Rossi insists his benching of wing-back Cesar has nothing to do with how new contract talks have dragged on.
Cesar could leave Lazio on a Bosman in the summer, but Rossi says: "As for Cesar, he should give more, but can't seem to manage that at the moment.

"If he is left on the bench, it is down to a tactical choice and has nothing to do with his contract situation."

Moratti considers Di Vaio loan for Inter Milan
tribalfootball.com - November 29, 2005

Inter Milan patron Massimo Moratti has ordered directors Gabriele Oriali and Marco Branca to explore the possibility of signing Valencia striker Marco Di Vaio in January.

Moratti won't consider shelling out a fee for the Italian, but would consider a six-month loan for Di Vaio should Chievo insist that Victor Obinna remain with them for the second-half of the season.

Inter want Obinna as a replacement for Obefami Martins, who is due to play for Nigeria in the African Nations Cup. However, Chievo coach Beppe Pillon is insisting the youngster stay in Verona.

Veron: Inter Milan best with 4-4-2
tribalfootball.com - November 29, 2005

Juan Veron has told Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini to stick with his 4-4-2 system.

Reflecting on Sunday's win at Messina, Veron said: "We express ourselves better using 4-4-2, because we are strong on the wings and therefore make use of our width very well.

"Clearly we must believe we can win the Scudetto. It would not be worth getting out of bed if we didn't.

"We must find consistency."

Cesar is off contract at the end of this season and it's suggested that agent Gilmar Rinaldo met with Inter directors to discuss his future while he was in talks for Adriano's contract extension.

"As far as I am concerned, we have not broken off contract renewal talks with Cesar," insisted Lazio president Claudio Lotito in Tuttosport.

"I would be happy for him to stay at the Stadio Olimpico, but if he should decide that this club is not his home, we would look for alternatives."

AC Milan defender Jaap Stam is being linked with Ajax.

The big Dutchman is expected to return to Holland in the summer and former club PSV Eindhoven were seen as favourites to land his signature.

However, it's emerged that Ajax sports chief Martin van Geel has been sounding out Stam's representatives about snubbing PSV and joining the Amsterdam giants at the end of this season.

Fiorentina will try for Arsenal midfielder Robert Pires in January.

Pires' contract expires at the end of this season and the Frenchman has declared he won't leave Highbury during the winter market.

But Fiorentina director general Pantaleo Corvino will make a formal move for Pires next month as coach Cesare Prandelli's demands reinforcements to strengthen their bid for Champions League qualification this season.

Prandelli has also discussed Real Betis winger Joaquin with Corvino, but the Spaniard's £16 million asking price is too rich for the Florence club.

Serie A Team Of The Week: Round 13         ----------Goal
11/28/2005 7:35:00 AM
This week Inzaghi, Toni and Suazo will form our attack in a 4-3-3 formation.
Pavarini: Played well to keep the Siena offence at bay and to savage a point for Reggina.

Vargas: Good defending and the best Livorno defender on the field to keep Chievo at bay.

Nesta: Always performs well and always shows his class. He will get an award eventually.

Mandelli: Chievo’s best defender on the pitch against Livorno. Played well and kept Lucarelli and company at bay.

Franceschini: Defended well and is one of the sole reasons that Reggina salvaged a point.

Tommasi: After more than a year out due to injury, he enters the field and scores a goal. Class act.

Liverani: Scored a goal to give Lazio three points. Plays well in his position and Lazio suffers when he is not around.

Parravicini: Scored a goal against Juve. Not many players do.

Inzaghi: Benched for a long time due to injury, comes in as a sub and scores. Like him or hate him, he can score. His Azzurri days are numbered though.

Suazo: Scored two goals to give Cagliari their first victory. Sampdoria’s defence was sleeping. Samp were suffering from victory syndrome of midweek and it cost them.

Toni: Still keeps on scoring. Need I say more? Hopefully he stays healthy till the World Cup.

Capello Tempted By Madrid Return    -------------      Goal
11/29/2005 1:31:00 AM
Fabio Capello has said that he could be tempted by a return to Real Madrid, but not until his contract at Juventus expires in the summer of 2007.
The Italian coach has been linked with the job at El Bernabéu as pressure grows on Vanderlei Luxemburgo, who it is believed is living on borrowed time after Madrid’s relatively poor start to the campaign.

Reports in Spain have suggested that the Juve boss had a verbal agreement with Madrid, but he has denied any such deal exists and said that he would only consider moving back to La Primera in 18 months.

"I have a contract with Juve," he told Italian reporters. "I’ve read the speculation, but I’m bounded to Juve for another year.

"It’s a pleasure reading your name linked to teams like Real and Manchester United.

"I’ve worked in a good way and in different places. It’s a thing that gives me pride. Coming back to Madrid?

"Coming back in a place where you have already been is a mistake. It happened to me at Milan in 1997 and it went badly.

"But in Madrid it would be different because everything has changed. Club and players."

Capello enjoyed one season at Madrid when he won the league title in 1996-97, but left to take charge of Milan where he continued to enjoy further success.

The 59-year-old has also been rumoured to be wanted as a replacement for Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, but the current Old Trafford boss scotched those rumours when he confirmed that he would still be in charge of the Red Devils next season.

"This never has not happened. But it's too early to talk about specific players."

Inter Milan president blasts Juventus director Giraudo
tribalfootball.com - December 1, 2005

Inter Milan president Giacinto Facchetti has blasted Juventus director Antonio Giraudo.

"Nowadays much is said about morality in football," Giraudo told a group of pupils in Turin, celebrating their school's centenary. "Then some clubs go out and spend over £80m a year without winning anything."

Facchetti responded to Giraudo's sleight by suggesting that Juventus' so-called economic footballing model is based on spending money that isn't theirs.

"Those who spend their own money cannot be immoral," he retorted. "I don't think I need to tell Giraudo what is really immoral about Italian football, because he knows that all too well himself."

Roma want to upgrade Tommasi contract
tribalfootball.com - December 1, 2005

AS Roma have offered to upgrade Damiano Tommasi's current minimum wage contract.

The midfielder, who badly damaged his knee during a pre-season friendly against Stoke City in 2004, is hugely respected throughout Italy.

That after proposing that Roma offer him the minimum footballer's wage of £1,070 a month after his contract expired last summer, in return for the chance to prove himself injury-free. Roma now want to up his wages to £410,000 a season.

Tommasi, though, is in no rush to take up the offer just yet as he wants to concentrate on lasting the season out first.

"We'll talk about it at the end of the campaign," said the 31-year-old, with typical disregard for his own financial gain.

The former Verona player, who is in his ninth season at the club, intends to continue playing for another two to three years - before accepting a move upstairs into the directorial position offered to him by President Franco Sensi.

Capello Announces Buffon's Return -  -----------------------Goal
11/30/2005 5:13:00 PM
Fabio Capello announced during this evening’s press conference that Gianluigi Buffon will make his official return to action tomorrow when Juventus face off against Fiorentina in Coppa Italia action.
“Buffon will play and for Sunday let’s see how it goes,” the Juventus boss told reporters before leaving for Florence.

“It will be he who will decide when he is ready to also play in the league,” he added.

The Italian keeper has been out of action since August, when he injured his shoulder following a clash with Milan’s Kaka’ during the annual Berlusconi trophy.
To replace him, Juventus chose Milan’s Abbiati, who Rossonero chairman Berlusconi handed over on loan to the Bianconeri as an act of courstey in the wake of Buffon’s injury.

The Coppa Italia first leg clash, set to played tomorrow evening in the Stadio Artemio Franchi, will only be a prelude of things to come as the two arch-rivals are set to face-off again in the same venue on Sunday afternoon; this time for the three points.

"Back then he was a very young player, however even then he was excellent."

AC Milan are ready to move for Juventus defender Jonathan Zebina.
Zebina appears on the outer at Juve after reportedly demanding a huge pay-hike during new contract talks.

Inter Milan offer Burdisso for Fiorentina's Bojinov
tribalfootball.com - December 2, 2005

Inter Milan could send fullback Nicolas Burdisso to Fiorentina in a swap for striker Valeri Bojinov.
Viola President Andrea Della Valle and Nerazzurri owner Massimo Morattti are known to enjoy excellent relations and with Inter looking for a replacement for Obafemi Martins during his African Cup absence, Bojinov has been targeted.

The precocious 19-year-old has been something of a bit-part player in Fiorentina's success story this season, playing mostly as substitute while Luca Toni has gone from strength to goalscoring strength.

Inter, though, are said to be very interested in the promising Bulgarian - signed for ?11m from Lecce last January - and are willing to offer the services of Burdisso in exchange.

Messina make Zoro new captain
tribalfootball.com - December 2, 2005

Messina have handed defender Marco Zoro the club captaincy - to go along with his global ambassador's role.
Zoro received the captain's armband just days after threatening to walk off if racist chanting continued, but the Messina man admits he probably won't repeat the gesture.

"I don't know if I'd do it again," said the Ivory Coast international. "I do hope it made some people stop and think. I was very pleased that the Inter players agreed with me and they were the ones who convinced me to resume play."

Zoro picked up the ball and tried to walk off the pitch during Sunday's 2-1 home defeat to Inter Milan after repeated racist chanting from visiting fans. Adriano and Obafemi Martins proved instrumental in calming the situation down, but this merely highlighted an existing problem throughout Italy and Europe.

"It wasn't an isolated incident, as it has happened to me a few times. This is why I believe the FIGC's decision to postpone all kick-offs by five minutes this week in protest is a good one. Unfortunately, racism doesn't only exist in football stadiums. Shopkeepers sometimes look at me strangely, as if they think I won't have the money to buy goods."

Both Serie A giants could be forced to join Real in an auction for Cassano, who is wanted by the Spanish giants as cover for the injury-prone Ronaldo.
