John Elkann: Five Matches For Claudio Ranieri To Turn Things Around At Juventus
The Juve heir stressed in a recent interview that the coach’s future will be decided after the season…
Juventus have been desperately struggling for form in recent weeks, which consequently has seen them slip to third place, two points behind Milan and nine behind the league leaders, Inter.
As expected, such results have placed further pressure on their under-fire coach, Claudio Ranieri, who could be set to get the chop at the conclusion of the season.
A number of high-profile coaches have been linked with the top job at the Bianconeri, none more prominent than the current Italy boss, Marcello Lippi, who has coached the Old Lady previously.
Despite this though, the Juventus heir, John Elkann, has publicly declared that the time isn’t right for Lippi to return to the helm at the club, whilst he and the club will not discuss Ranieri’s future at this point in time.
“I am very disappointed at present, as I know the fans are too,” Elkann declared in an interview as reported by Corriere dello Sport.
“The team need to show more, and the players and the coach must demonstrate that they know how to win.
“The budgets are made at the end of the season, so now is not the time to discuss Ranieri’s future. He and his players still have five matches remaining, so we will await the results.
“As for Lippi, he will always be close to Juventus, however now is not the time for him.”
Ranieri will be desperate to end his side’s dismal run with a victory over struggling Lecce on Sunday in Turin.
